the decision
Dear diary,
its already been 6 mounth ago, that I left my life in Germany and came to australia.
I want to use this platform to report from my journey, tell all about my plans and organisation and hopefully inspirate a lot of people to do the same I do - Living the dream!
I'm gonna start from the very beginning.
I always new I wanted to go abroad after I finished Highschool. I had a lot of ideas. Surfing in Hawaii, learning salsa in Spain, watching wild animals in South Africa. Honestly at first, Australia was the country I least expected me to end up. Because Australia was the thing everybody did. And I didnt want to be everybody, I wanted to do something special. But, well, afterall I did decided to come to australia, especially because of the unique surf academy I found here.
I always knew I wanted to plan my gap year trhough a german organisation, which can help me in emergencies, after a lot of research I found AIFS. It's a great organisation, which has a lot of programs to offer. Among other thing such as work and travel, au pair or adventure trips, they offered a 3 mounth surf academy in spotX australia. When I saw the pictures in the internet, I directly fall in love! SpotX is a small camping ground in the village Arrawarra. It's located at the east coast, 6 hours north of Sydney. It's a place with a beautiful nature and almost nothing around. You basicly have the whole place to yourself. My decision to book this trip followed pretty quick. In addicion to the surf academy I also booked a work and travel year through AIFS so I could also travel australia after the 3 mounth in the surfcamp.
From now on, the planning and organisation started. How much money do I need? Do I need travel insurences? How many things can I pack? How do I get the visa? Which visa do I need?
Yes, a lot of question.
Stay tuned ans read my next entry to see the answers I got!
